5th Annual   Matacanes/Mexico   Hiking Trip

for entering high school men

June 4-6, 2010

Sponsored by Chaucer Drive Study Center (Houston) & Sillares Center (Monterrey)

The Matacanes canyon is located in Santiago County in the State of Nuevo León (Mexico), a 9-hour drive from Houston.

Trip Features:

  • 8 hours of intense rappelling, jumping, hiking and swimming.
  • Two 80-ft and 50-ft waterfalls (jumping into the water and descending with professional rappel equipment).
  • Two caves where the river turns dark and we will need to jump in the dark (these caves are known as “The Matacanes”)
  • Freezing water along the way (we will consume chocolate bars to avoid cramps).
  • Dozens of crystal clear water lagoons and abundant trees.

To attend you must: 1) Be in good physical shape and have strong knees and ankles.  2) Have a positive attitude towards nature and like adventures.  3) Be ready for Matacanes Canyon…not for the fainthearted!

Cost of the Program: $350 (combined with High School & Beyond Seminar)
