Location of Service Project:

Ciudad de los Niños provides an education with

high academic standards and a well-rounded Christian formation to almost 1,000 under-privileged children in Monterrey, Mexico. Ciudad de los Niños is solely supported by private donations.

 

 

Description of Work:

A final description of the work will not be available until our arrival in Monterrey. In the past, groups have painted the church and school buildings, leveled a foundation, mixed and poured concrete, and uprooted trees. 

 

 

 

 

Important Information

B.     The cost of the entire week, including meals, transportation and immigration fees: $250.

C.     Everyone is encouraged to ask relatives, friends and members of the business community for assistance. Donations to the Chaucer Drive Study Center, Inc. are tax deductible under paragraph 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

D.     Submit your payment to JL Marti as soon as possible. A $50 deposit by Feb 20 will reserve your spot. Checks should be made payable to Chaucer Drive Study Center, Inc.

Saturday

 

Leave Houston at 10:00 am; arrive Galvan Ranch  6pm.

 

Sunday

 

Am: hunt and outdoors @ Galvan Ranch

Pm: drive to Monterrey, El Molino Conference Center

 

Monday

 

Am: excursion in the mountains near the city. Pm: Visit to poorest district to give out clothes.

Tuesday

 

Work at Ciudad de los Niños.

Wednesday

 

Work at Ciudad de los Niños.

Thursday

 

Work at Ciudad de los Niños.

 Return to Houston

Daily Itinerary:

              8:00 am         Mass

              8:30 am         Breakfast

            10:00 am         Work or Activity

            12:00 pm         Lunch at the school

            12:30 pm         Recess with students

              1:00 pm         Work

              5:00 pm         Return to lodging

              7:00 pm         Dinner, get-together

 

Items to Bring:

A.   Proof of citizenship: Passport (if older than 18)   -OR- birth certificate (original), voter registration, or notary public’s affidavit plus government-issued picture ID (i.e., driver’s license)

B.     Work clothes including hat

C.     Pair of nice blue jeans or slacks and a decent shirt for Mass

D.     Hiking clothes and shoes

E.      Toiletries, any necessary medications. Towels, pillows, etc. are provided.
